Meet Our Mayor

Mayor David Phillips

The current Mayor of Pineville, David Phillips, served on the Town of Council of Pineville for 14 years prior to becoming the Mayor. He retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in 2014 after serving for 30 years, mostly as a homicide detective. The Town of Pineville has been his home since he was 6-years-old, and his wife and 3 daughters were born and raised here as well! The Mayor has been married to his wife, Mitzi, for 43 years and now has 3 married daughters and 5 grandchildren. Mayor Phillips is very passionate about the Town of Pineville and has called it his home for the past 58 years!

Town Boards

Planning Board

The Planning Board advises the Mayor and Town Council on zoning and land use decisions in the town and generally meets when needed. Meetings are held at the Pineville Town Hall at 505 Main Street, Pineville. Meetings are open to the public.

The Planning Board consists of five members, all of whom shall be residents of the Town. Members are appointed for designated terms by the Mayor and Town Council.

Board of Adjustment

The Board of Adjustment hears zoning appeals and requests for variances from the zoning ordinance. Board of Adjustment meetings are generally held the fourth Thursday of the month at the Pineville Town Hall at 505 Main Street, Pineville. Meetings are open to the public.

** There is an opening for a Board of Adjustment member as of 4/30/24.

** Currently there are no alternates, but two are needed.

The Board of Adjustment consists of five regular members and two alternates, all of whom shall be residents of the Town. Members of this board are also appointed for designated terms by the Mayor and Town Council.

The Town of Pineville relies on many volunteers to help achieve community goals. Do you want to make a tangible difference? Would you like to use your skills and talents for the good? Would you like to meet and network with others in the community? Working to elevate a cause and helping others can be rewarding.

Pineville has over ten boards and committees with varying interests, responsibilities, and commitment levels. As an applicant, you are encouraged to attend a meeting or two of the board or committee that you’re interested in. Most, if not all, of the boards and committees meet monthly, but a few meet only quarterly.
